Shock and Awe in Atlanta

Doug Herbert speaking at GKIC Atlanta meeting.

Doug Herbert sharing marketing tips at the GKIC Atlanta Chapter meeting.

Yesterday I gave a speech at the Atlanta chapter of the Glazer-Kennedy Insider’s Circle (GKIC) marketing group.  GKIC, led by Dan Kennedy, is a worldwide membership-based organization that is comprised of the sharpest minds in online and offline (traditional) marketing for small businesses.  I have been a GKIC member since 2009.

The Atlanta chapter is presently led by Tanya Stewart, a very sharp business consultant.  I was asked by Tanya to talk about the concept of the “Shock and Awe Package” and how it can be used by local small businesses.

A Shock and Awe package is an attention-grabbing package of information and items that you send to someone.  It is often a box or package that is so full of useful information about you and/or your company that the recipient can’t resist looking at it and studying it.

I showed the audience how small businesses can benefit from this concept.  I brought an example of a Shock and Awe package that my company, Herbert Construction Co., uses to welcome new customers to our company.  Our concrete construction company’s New Client Welcome Kit contains information and special gifts that every one of our new customers receives in the mail before we start their first foundation.

The meeting room was filled with talented local small business owners such as lawyers, home builders, web development specialists, business coaches, and even a professional magician that has appeared at the White House.

It was a great group of people and we had a lot of fun.
